Live Music at Bangor Cathedral – Thank You!

A massive thank you to everyone who performed at the concert in Bangor Cathedral on Friday 28th February. When we added all the donations received we had more than £600. This means that with the proceeds of the Moroccan night at The Beach Hut last year we will be able to give Father Randolph, the Bangor Cathedral High Street Chaplain, a cheque for £1000. £500 to the Cathedral Partnership which provides food vouchers for people who sleep on the streets (currently more than 30 people regularly) and £500 for the emergency fund which provides money for just that. For example last year when one of the street sleepers died money was needed to help his friends provide a suitable funeral for him. It made a very big difference to them to be able to give him a ‘proper’ funeral .

So thank you to Steve Huison, Threnody, Y Moniars, Jham , Fiona and Gorwel and Simon for giving their services and time for free. and a huge thank you to everyone who came to listen , enjoy and donate!!

Thanks also to the Cathedral staff who were very helpful and allowed us to use the cathedral for free – the heating was on!! (although it didn’t really feel like it)

Thanks also to Iwan for doing the sound and taking photos – they will appear on this website soon. Meanwhile… you can find some of the contributors on internet. Links to follow.

A big Thank You also to Callum for designing the posters and starting the first local Wham tribute band!

Have a good spring .

Moroccan Evening

The Moroccan evening at The Beach Hut Cafe in Llanfairfechan was extremely well attended. A big THANK YOU to everyone who came along and contributed to a very pleasant evening which raised over £400 for a special fund for homeless people in Bangor.

Dave the chef was not at the evening to receive all the compliments for his cooking, but we have passed on all the very positive messages about the food. Thank you Dave.

Steve Boyd entertained us again with his guitar and fittingly opened with a Train to Marrakesh. He was joined for the evening by his daughter Sarah, who played and sang delightfully a number of her own compositions. Thank you Steve and Sarah – and Jane for helping to put up the lights!

Randolph from the Cathedral Project was unable to be there on the night but had explained the need for an Emergency fund. One of the people living on the streets had recently died and there was a need for money to pay for funeral costs etc. The OneHeart Committee agreed that the proceeds from the Moroccan night should go to this fund.

Thank you again for the support of everyone who has helped raise money. It was very good to see familiar and new people at the Cafe. We hope to see you all again at a future event. Please check this website for updates.

OneHeart AGM 2013 – Minutes

AGM of OneHeart Charity 30.5.13

1. The minutes of last years AGM were read and passed nem con.

2.The trustees reports were read. It was noted that the Charity raised a total of £637.79 from various events including the Greek night at the Beach Hut, Carol singing outside the Spar and from collecting boxes in the village. It was noted that the box in the Cooperative was completely full and contained £41.74. Evelyn would like to thank everyone in the village who gave so generously. The carol singing raised £58.73.

3. It was  noted that Rosie Waite had been acting Chairperson of the Charity since Mandy’s death and she was nominated, seconded and voted to be Chairperson by all members present.
Liam Simone was nominated, seconded and voted to be Treasurer of the society to replace Lindsay Mack who had moved away last August.
Evelyn noted that these changes would involve changing the signatories for the bank account and arrangements were made for this to happen. It was agreed to keep the bank account at the cooperative although an alternative had been suggested last year.

4. Any Other Business.
Tom Simone suggested reviving the idea of a concert in the Cathedral before Christmas this year. Various ideas were discussed and Evelyn agreed to contact Randolph at the Cathedral to discuss this.
Liam said that he would like to do the Moroccan Night at the Beach Hut at the end of August and Friday August 30th was agreed as the date for this.
Evelyn agreed to do the posters and asked for other members to help distribute them and publicise the event in any way they could.
